I received my first boom box in 1980. I then proceeded to record off of the radio for the next couple decades. The results were what I called “junk tapes”. I think the general public would call them mix-tapes. So that’s how I will refer to them to you folk.
I am embarrassed by the ones from the 80s. I was mainly into hair bands and 70s classic rock during that decade. But then the metamorphosis from moving out to Rapid City occurred when I became involved with the college radio station out there (KTEQ). So that is where I started my digitalization project.
So here is
my media upload page. These are from tapes, recorded off of radio. On occasion I was slow on hitting the record button, and missed a few seconds off of a song. I was a fan of Bob Yates Radio Basics, a talk show on KSTP AM 1500 in the Twin Cities. Also a fan of Saturday Morning sports talk on the same station, so you will here the occasional babble from these sources.
